Coronavirus COVID-19 Vocabulary and Booklet in Arabic with English Translation

Updated: Mar 22, 2020

TWO FREE awareness E-Books about the novel Coronavirus for children and Adults/ Arabic language learners.

Dealing with the unknown can be worrying and scary, adults and children alike. Being factual and providing necessary knowledge can lessen the anxiety. It can be quite scary for some children when they hear and see the adults reactions about the Coronavirus. This free booklet was inspired by similar booklets I have seen online, but unfortunately were not in Modern Standard Arabic. It aims at providing the basic virus-related precautions and knowledge, while keeping it fun and simple, as well as improving the knowledge of Arabic language and expanding learners' vocabulary.

Firstly, precautions lists in Arabic with English transcription and translation:

#StayAtHome Campaign in Arabic, depicted below:

[Baqāʼ] بَقاء = noun meaning eternity; immortality; stay(ing); remaining... Hence the recent campain in some Arabic countries stating: Staying at home or "Staying is only for God"/ "Only God is eternal". This phrase is popular among Arabic speakers, especially as means of expressing condolences. It is usually followed by: {إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ} “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”

{الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ} (2:156)

Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”
